WHO WE ARE
Antique Fables Theatre Collective (AFTC) was founded in 2015 by Travis DeWolf and Liz Laywine in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. MANDATE Antique Fables Theatre Collective (AFTC) strives to celebrate classic literary, poetic, and dramatic works as well as historical figures and, through a process of devising and creative adaptation, present these works to a contemporary audience in the Greater Toronto Area. Our goal is to achieve a “demystification” of these classics for spectators of all ages, levels of education, and theatrical exposure. AFTC intends to strike a balance between education & entertainment, contemporary commentary & historical contextualization, high-brow & low brow, intellectualization and accessibility. MISSION AFTC intends to create a variety of works through exploring a wide range of classical source material, as well as a wide range of artistic/theatrical styles/mediums. The group hopes to, rather than imposing contemporary issues onto the text, allow the world of the play to inform our discoveries and insights about our own contemporary world. AFTC also intends to focus on outreach to school groups as a way to instil the younger generation with an enthusiasm and curiosity for the arts. OUR VALUES
